CONCEIVED AS A DESIGN SERIES, EACH NEW INSTALMENT STARTS WITH A CLEAN SLATE. WITH NO EXISTING RESTRAINTS OR COMMITMENTS MYKITA STUDIO ILLUSTRATES A MOMENT IN TIME. A CENTRAL IDEA PURSUED TO ITS CONSEQUENT, PHYSICAL MANIFESTATION.
STUDIO 1.1 & 1.2
Modern Metropolis. Art deco meets functionalism for an aesthetic evoking the Fritz Lang classic. Both models share a strong graphic look where fine, repetitive horizontal lines join perfectly round lenses in a paper-thin, stainless steel frame. The dark matt exterior contrasts with a metallic interior, accentuating the two-dimensional quality of the sunglasses.
STUDIO 2.1 & 2.2
Graphic illusions. A diagonal split-screen design deconstructs the traditional sunglasses structure. The divide separating a solid and mirrored surface runs straight across both the stainless steel frame and tinted lens. This geometric overlay finish transforms the classic appearance of the oversized round and panto-shaped models into a radical, graphic statement.
STUDIO 3.1 & 3.2
Black magic. Enter Antigua, Black/Gold Square and Black Havana – three acetates conceived by and exclusively produced for MYKITA. The brand returns to the fundament of industrial design: material research and development. Bold simple shapes in classic round or rectangular are a canvas for the dark intrigue of custom-made acetates in rich black hues with taupe, grey or golden accents to unfold. Slightly oversize, the expansive front on both models belies a slim frame for a modern, two-dimensional aesthetic.
